About the event

For this meeting the society offers a lesson in genealogy.

Marilyn Cocchiola Holt spent 37 years at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh’s Local & Family History section and has been teaching genealogy research for nearly four decades. Scandinavian genealogy is a particularly rich area to explore: Swedish church records (husförhörslängder) go back to the 1600s, Norwegian Bygdebøker are detailed parish-by-parish family histories, and Danish records are among the best-preserved in the world. If you’ve ever wondered where your family came from in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, or Finland before they ended up in Western Pennsylvania, this is a great place to start.

Marilyn will talk and take questions. Bring what you know (or what you don’t know) about your own family history.

As always, our events are potlucks so please bring a dish to share!

Please see message in the Runes newsletter for the door code.
